Or at least it seems like it, a new site that GigaOM reviewed the other day will allow you to listen to almost any song out there.  While the GigaOM writer threw in some obscure terms and artists I chose to search for some obscure musical theater material and I too was quite impressed with the results.  Even though the quality of playback varies, some material is just plain hard to track down and this engine did a decidedly good job at it.

songza The GigaOM reviewer mentioned the possibility that one of the sources searched is YouTube but minus the music,  I’d say that’s a good guess since several of my musical-related searches returned live-recorded content.  The other tell-tale is the number of "Me singing ..<song title here>.." search results.  As with any high-volume search engine where quantity is the central focus quality often becomes a challenge.  But we’ll see, I suspect there will be several more quantity-based search engines appearing in the days to come, how will they handle this issue?  We’ll have to wait and see. ;)

Return of the Zeppelin

November 21st, 2007

Here’s a cool story from Wired denoting a company based in San Francisco, CA that is bringing back blimp errrr.. zeppelin tours.  (If you’ll remember back to Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade that’s a Zeppelin that Jr. & Sr. are riding on halfway through the film.)  I think it’s a pretty cool concept as most of my generation has never even seen an airship other than the ones found circling sporting events.  To learn the difference between a zeppelin and a blimp, see pictures of modern zeppelin’s in action or waste some time reading about the "Himmelstreppe" check out the story:

Windows Live Writer

November 15th, 2007

Several days ago I saw a mention that Microsoft released their LIVE office tools.  This toolset consists of Live Mail, Live Writer, Live Messenger, and several other applications that I didn’t feel the need to install.  Today’s focus is on Live Writer which is a tool that makes it SUPER simple to maintain almost any blog site.  Proof in point I am writing this post for my Wordpress blog in Live Writer.  The tool looks and acts much like Word but allows you to easily connect and seamlessly publish posts to your blog site.  It’s great try it.

This is the moment…

November 9th, 2007

In addition to being one of the anchor anthems from Jekyll & Hyde the musical I thought I’d use the passage to announce my stepping off into the land of Mac.  Yes, that’s right the boy who started on a Timex; saving BASIC programs to cassette tapes has just bought his first Mac.  I must admit I’m a bit nervous as I wait for it to arrive how will it work will I regret it?

Here’s a website that let’s you bet real money on weather conditions. For example, at WeatherBill.com you can put money on what the temperature will be for the next 5 days and get paid if you’re right. While I don’t recommend trying it, it may make sense for some travel agencies and other weather-affected businesses.

Woot – Zune for $100 & Wine

October 15th, 2007

I came across a great site today offering the 30gb Zune for $100($104.99w/ shipping). Even though it’s a refurb 30gb of storage is good for me. Plus I hate trying to adapt to Itunes’ categorization system, yuck! Anyways, apparently Woot sells a new product each day at a big discount. Time to add it to my Google Reader!

AND it seems they have done the same with wine at http://wine.woot.com
If you make it there today check out the Poizin
