I was discussing Neil Patrick Harris this morning and the topic of his Dr. Horrible Musical came up.  I got to thinking that I never added this to Isawtoday and felt it deserved even a latent inclusion.

Has anyone done a mini-musical like this before?  This is fantastic!

Where Am I?

October 7th, 2009

Many of you may have noticed that there was a significant gap in activity from May through August.  During this time I took a trip to Africa to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and safari out in the Ngorongoro crater.  I live blogged much of my climb to my kilimanjaro climb blog at www.andyonthemountain.com.  Since being back I’ve finally organized the trip and plugged in some amazing videos and pictures of the experience.  Also, I can’t say enough about the outfitter that I chose for my Kilimanjaro Climb . Erika and Lema from Serengeti Pride Safaris were amazing and made this 21 day trip awesome!

Now back to finding cool things to share with you all!

A great commentary as I’m into the whole Fred Astaire, Jimmy Stewart style of being these days.

A Color Chemist Named Bubbles

December 4th, 2008

Last night while having an entrepreneurial drink with a good friend I met a very attractive woman who works as a color chemist. After several minutes of rousing discussion on topics such as:

  • “If I get Blue #2 in my blond hair will my hair turn green”?
  • “Which Peruvian beetle makes the best natural red coloring for M&M’s? (for the British only)

I decided to investigate what other exciting contributions color chemists are responsible for and the answer: bubbles. Or more accurately Zubbles; colored bubbles. It looks like this small company out of MN has been trying to bring this product to market for almost 3 years now and can’t seem to make it. Is there a conspiracy among the bubble industry to keep this mum? Surely the arrival of a mainstream colored bubble would spell an end for your average bubble toys.

Online Interval Timer

November 23rd, 2008

I just bought a Kurt Kinetic Fluid Trainer for my road bike this week and have been riding intervals inside now that it’s cold in Wisconsin.  I know there are lots of great DVD’s out for spinning workouts but I prefer to just work on 1 minute intervals.

A quick search revealed this handy online tool that let’s you configure your interval and total workout length.  A whistle, bell, or buzzer sounds signaling you on each interval.  Very handy.

Several months ago my colleague Matt talked up the Lego Star Wars game that his kids had received for Christmas. Not being overly into video games I listened polietely and said… ‘very cool’. Fast forward to the previous Sunday at which time I discovered the Indiana Jones Flash Lego Game and since find myself using this amazingly fun game as another excuse to buy a Wii. For many of you out there video game systems are probably a way of life but my parents chose to buy me a Tandy 1000TL instead of a NES back in the 80’s. This meant I spent my days writing games in GW-BASIC instead of playing them. I suppose I have to credit my career in technology to my parents because of that move but I think much of my eagerness to buy the Wii comes from the fact that I’ve never owned a console game system. In the meantime hop on over to Lego.com and play this fun game.
